Transcendental Études (Ode to Liszt)
2022
Drawing inspiration from Franz Liszt's music, the textile works titled Transcendental Études (Ode to Liszt) interpret each of his twelve compositions visually. Transforming auditory sources into visual expressions, these works evoke emotions from Liszt's musical realm through vivid colors, dynamic movements, and dimensional forms.
Employing leitmotifs as central themes, the artworks feature radial patterns amidst dense, colorful feathers or crystalline imagery viewed through polarized light technology. Each motif contributes to a descriptive tone that elaborates on Liszt’s thematic compositions in his twelve musical studies.

As a side note: The series title 'Transcendental Études' (French: Études d'exécution transcendante) refers to Franz Liszt's set of twelve compositions for solo piano, initially conceived in 1826 as simpler exercises and later expanded into the technically demanding Douze Grandes Études (Twelve Great Studies), published in 1837 as S. 139.
