Novae
2015
Inspired by infrared thermography (thermal imaging), emergent impressions in multi-colored radiance fluoresce in this site-specific installation. Novae continues the formal investigation from an earlier series, L'apparition (2014), exploring visually transformative and dimensionally fluid contexts. Observers moving beneath the installation witness constant compositional mutation.
A sunlit hue of yellow, visible from the periphery, permeates the dichroic surface of each panel. As one moves along, immersive transmutations of colour unfold. Intense coral and purple hues emerge, radiate, and recede, resembling shadows cast above rather than below.
Novae reveals a multitude of compositional variances, creating an ongoing dialogue with its environment. The installation metamorphoses with each new interaction, forcing dynamic engagement with the viewer. Simultaneously celestial and temporal, the work draws inspiration from the astronomical concept of a nova, an event that causes the sudden appearance of a bright "new" star that slowly fades from view.
