Proekt Unovisa
2013 - 2014
Proekt Unovisa pays homage to Malevich and Suprematism, an art movement focused on the supremacy of pure feeling or perception in visual arts. These works are inspired by both Eastern and Western poets like Li Bai, Bai Juyi, Wang Wei, and Ezra Pound, whose minimalist poetry influenced my approach to visual language, emphasizing the delicate interplay of shape and color.
This series of paintings seeks art's barest essentials. In the tradition of Suprematism's abstraction, these geometric works explore the 'zero degree' of painting—the point where the medium nearly ceases to be art. They investigate the visual language of Suprematism through spatial elements, shifting axes, and multiple perspectives.

Note: The title Proekt Unovisa references El Lissitzky's term for his version of Suprematism, Prounism, derived from Proekt Unovisa ("design for the confirmation of the new"). Unovis was the group Malevich founded in Vitebsk in 1919, which included Lissitzky among its members.
